This standard specifies the method for determining the low shear rate viscosity of automotive fluid lubricants in the temperature range of -5 to -40°C using an air cooling bath and a semiconductor cooling bath, using a Brookfield viscometer. This standard applies to the determination of automotive fluid lubricants with a viscosity range of 1,000 to 1,000,000 mPa·s, such as gear oil, hydraulic transmission oil, industrial and automotive hydraulic oil.
