Scope
This International Standard specifies two methods of high voltage testing: Test A for detecting and locating defects in enamels and enameling; Test B for detecting and locating both defects and weak points in emails and enameling. The tests are carried out with rectified high voltage (DC) or pulsed DC high voltage. The tests apply to dry enamel surfaces. In the case of damp surfaces, care should be taken to ensure that the test is carried out correctly to fully detect defects. Since the test voltage depends on the thickness of the enamel coating, the test method, especially for test A, may not be suitable for test items where large differences in coating thicknesses occur.
