This International Standard specifies test methods for assessing the accuracy of digitizing equipment for computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) systems for indirect dental restorations. The methods described in this International Standard require a digitizing device in which the object is fixed relative to the optical or mechanical touch system and are therefore not applicable to hand-held scanner systems. These test procedures do not apply to digitization using X-rays or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
