Scope
This part of GB/T 32348 specifies the requirements for resistance heating systems, including general test requirements. Heat tracing systems to which this standard applies include factory-assembled or field (worksite)-assembled units, which may be series and parallel trace heaters or surface heaters (heat trace pads and trace hot plate). This standard also includes requirements for termination components and control methods used with heat tracing systems. This part specifies the basic requirements and test methods applicable to industrial and commercial resistance heat tracing equipment. Products certified in accordance with this part are to be installed by personnel who have received appropriate technical training. At the same time, particularly critical work, such as the installation of connections and terminations, should only be performed by trained personnel. Installation should be under the supervision of qualified personnel with additional training in resistive heat tracing systems. This section does not apply to any application in a potentially explosive atmosphere. This section does not involve induction, impedance or skin effect heating. Heat tracing systems can be divided into different application types, which need to meet different test requirements under different conditions during and after installation. Heat tracing systems are usually certified for a specific installation or type of application. Typical applications of different types of devices include but are not limited to: a) heat tracing devices for surface heating of pipes, containers and supporting equipment, applications include: --freezing and heat preservation; --hot water pipes; --petroleum and chemical pipes; -- Sprinkler system mains and water supply lines. b) Heat tracing devices for outdoor open spaces, applications include: - deicing of roofs; - deicing of gutters and sewer pipes; - sedimentation tanks and drainage systems; - heating of guide rails. c) Devices with built-in heat tracing, applications include: - snow melting; - frost heave protection; - floor heating; - energy storage systems; - door frames. d) Heat tracing devices in ducts and piping systems, applications include: - snow melting (in ducts); - frost heave protection (in ducts); - floor heating (in ducts); - energy storage systems (in ducts); conduits); -- internal heat tracing for antifreezing of drinking water pipes; -- closed drainage systems and sewers.
