Scope
Strain gauges are used in diverse applications like measurement of force, torque and stress. Thus, they form an integral part of measuring devices and measurement systems in structural health monitoring but also in many other areas. The standard describes parameters for electrical strain gauges (DMS) with bonded metallic grid. The standard defines main features and characteristics of DMS and establishes procedures for their determination including the test conditions. The parameters and procedures ensure an understanding between manufacturers and users of DMS and promoting their proper selection for the respective measurement problems. The procedures ensure a uniform assessment of the products from different manufacturers. This ensures a comparability of different types and manufacturer variations.
