This International Standard specifies safety requirements for transparent welding curtains, strips and shields used to separate workplaces from environments where arc welding processes are carried out. They are designed to protect people not involved in the welding process from dangerous radiation, welding arcs and spatter. Welding curtains, strips and shields specified in this International Standard are not a substitute for welder protection filters. Other protective devices are used for direct observation of welding arcs. This International Standard does not apply to welding processes that use laser radiation. NOTE For greater comfort, dark curtains or screens are recommended to separate adjacent workstations on both sides.
