Scope
This International Standard specifies the various forms of pull-in trousers which are made at the end of a steel wire rope or attached to another rope when assembling a new rope or reshearing the existing rope on a machine. This International Standard also specifies the minimum requirements for tightening trousers, including their geometry, strength, maximum axial tensile force to which the tightening trousers are expected to be subjected and user information to be provided by the manufacturer. The tightening pants covered in this International Standard are not intended to be subjected to a load while servicing the machine. This International Standard applies to such pull-in trousers made or attached to the ends of steel wire ropes conforming to ISO 2408 and ISO 10425. This International Standard does not apply to steel wire ropes with fiber cores. This International Standard does not cover separate accessories for rope end connections, which are slipped over a rope end and consist of an eyelet and a tubular braided rope, often referred to as a wire rope stocking or cable stocking.
