EN ISO 16396-1:2015 Plastics - Polyamide (PA) moulding and extrusion materials - Part 1: Designation system@ marking of products and basis for specifications
This part of ISO 16396 specifies a naming system for polyamide (PA) molding compounds that can be used as a basis for specifications. Polyamide molding compound types are differentiated from one another using a classification system based on suitable value ranges of the characteristic properties: a) viscosity number and b) tensile elasticity modulus and information about composition, intended use and/or processing methods, important properties, additives, colorants, fillers and reinforcing materials is based. The designation system is applicable to all polyamide homopolymers, copolymers and blends. It applies to ready-to-use molding compounds, not modified or modified with colorants, additives, fillers, reinforcing agents, polymer modifiers. This part of ISO 16396 is not applicable to the following materials: a) monomeric cast polyamides of PA 6; b) monomeric cast polyamides of PA 12. It should not be assumed that molding compounds with the same name also have the same performance behavior. This part of ISO 16396 does not contain technical, performance or processing conditions data that may be necessary to specify a molding compound. If such additional properties are required, they shall, where possible, be determined in accordance with the test methods specified in Part 2 of this International Standard. In order to specify a thermoplastic molding compound for a specific application or reproducible processing, additional requirements must be specified in data block 5.
