EN ISO 10121-1:2014 Test method for assessing the performance of gas-phase air cleaning media and devices for general ventilation - Part 1: Gasphase air cleaning media
This part of ISO 10121 aims to provide an objective laboratory test method, a proposed test facility, normative test sections and normative tests for the evaluation of three different solid gas phase purification media (GPACM) or GPACM compositions for use in gas phase purification facilities for use in general filtration. This part of ISO 10121 is intended specifically for suitability testing and not for general material evaluation or characterization of the pore system. The three different types specified in this part of ISO 10121 are GPACM-LF (particles of various shapes and sizes, e.g. for loose filling applications), GPACM-FL (flat fabric layers, e.g. for flat single-layer devices, folding devices or pocket devices) and GPACM-TS (three-dimensional structures that are many times thicker than flat layers and are used, for example, as prefabricated elements in a facility). The tests are carried out in an air stream and the GPACM compositions are tested with test gases under constant conditions. Because elevated test gas concentrations are used (with respect to general ventilation), test data should be used to compare GPACM within the same composition and not for the purpose of predicting performance in real-world situations. It is also not stated that different GPACM compositions can be directly compared with one another. The primary goal is to compare similar GPACM compositions and not different GPACM compositions. The testing of entire facilities is described in ISO 10121-2.
