This part of ISO 6508 specifies a procedure for the calibration of hardness reference plates used in indirect testing and daily testing of Rockwell hardness testing machines according to ISO 6508-2:2015. It should be noted that only those made of hard metal are considered standard penetration balls for the Rockwell hardness test. Steel penetrating balls may only be used if they comply with ISO 6508-1:2015, Annex A.
