This standard specifies the test methods for the relative permittivity and dielectric loss factor of solid insulating materials at power frequencies, audio frequencies, and high frequencies (including meter wavelengths). This standard applies to the measurement of the relative permittivity and dielectric loss factor of solid insulating materials within the frequency range of 15Hz to 300MHz, and the calculation of certain values, such as the loss index. The measured values are related to physical conditions such as frequency, temperature, humidity and, in special cases, field strength.
