- This section specifies test methods for heat shrink molded profiles. This section applies to heat shrinkable molded profiles of different shapes and materials used for insulation, sealing, mechanical protection and strain relief of connectors/cable terminations and multiplexers. These specific tests are designed to control the quality of molded profiles, however it should be recognized that these tests are not entirely suitable for demonstrating the suitability of molded profiles for certain impregnation or encapsulation and other special application processes. Where necessary, these tests in this section are supplemented by appropriate impregnation or mixing tests to suit the individual case.
