Scope

This standard specifies the mechanisms and criteria to be applied for the selection and approval of an Object Identifier Resolution System (ORS) operating organization, and addresses procedures for modifying future procedures and changing operating organizations, including the procedures to be followed by the operating organization. Additionally, Lists the object identifier (OID) nodes for which the operating organization is obligated to provide ORS support, sets out the level of support required for those nodes, and applies ORS support (class A, class B, or class C) to subordinate nodes. It provides procedures for and presents the role of the operating agency. Lastly, the basis for charging is also established in this standard.
