Scope
This standard specifies a test method to evaluate the peeling resistance of the coating film from the substrate when the coating film is cut into a right-angled grid pattern and penetrated into the substrate. The properties measured by empirical testing procedures depend on, among other factors, the adhesion of the paint film to the existing paint film or substrate. However, these procedures are not considered a means of measuring adhesion. When measurement of adhesion is required, refer to the method presented in KS M ISO 4624. This method can be used as a pass/fail test or, if applicable, as a 6-level classification test. . When applied as a multi-layer coating system, the peeling resistance of the individual layers of the coating can also be evaluated. This test can be performed on finished products and/or specially prepared specimens. This method can be used on hard (e.g. metal) or soft (e.g. metal) specimens. Although it can be applied to coatings of substrates (e.g. wood and plaster), different test procedures are required depending on the substrate. This method is not suitable for coatings with a total thickness of more than 250 μm or coatings with textured surfaces.
