This standard specifies non-destructive testing requirements and methods. To the extent specifically cited or required in other standards or documents cited by this standard, the requirements of this standard shall apply. These non-destructive testing methods are intended to detect surface and internal imperfections in materials, welds, fabricated parts and components. These include visual testing, radiographic testing, ultrasonic testing, penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing, eddy current testing, leakage testing, and acoustic emission testing.
