Scope
This standard describes a method of forming flaws in painted steel or specimens for corrosion testing when the paint system is applied to a dry film thickness of less than 500 μm. This standard is provided as a guide only and is based on the results of joint tests without subsequent corrosion tests performed to determine the suitability of the flaws for corrosion testing. This standard covers the formation of flaws in metal plates or specimens made of the following materials: .—Steel—Chemically treated steel—Aluminum or aluminum alloy—Chemically treated aluminum However, this standard does not apply to galvanized or electroplated metal or coated aluminum sheet.
