This standard specifies the performance and test requirements for gas inflation systems for inflatable life-saving appliances meeting the requirements of the IMO LSA Code adopted by SOLAS 74 and IMO Resolution MSC.48(66). Gas inflation to which this standard applies The system consists of expansion gas, cylinder valve, cylinder operating head, high-pressure hose and pressure relief, expansion/deflation and check/conversion valves. This standard deals solely with systems in which expansion gas compressed in a cylinder is used as expansion medium. Since national requirements for the quality, use and testing of gas cylinders vary widely, this standard does not cover the requirements for gas cylinders, but the requirements of applicable regulations must be met.
