Scope
This standard specifies a test method to measure the minimum bursting strength by pressurizing the inside of the flexible packaging, surrounding it within a limiting plate, and sealing the perimeter of the flexible packaging. Describes a burst test method that does not use restraint plates and explains whether the pavement's general ability to resist compressive stress can withstand measurements. The burst test is accomplished by pressurizing the package internally to a point where the sealed packaging area around the burst opening responds to the pressure. By placing the pavement within the restraint plate when pressurized, the dimensional stability of the pavement is maintained as a result of stresses applied more uniformly along the pavement perimeter. Here, the seal is in a normal state. This provides the required pressure measurement at the packaging burst opening and allows the test to have a higher probability of finding the weakest area of the seal. This standard applies only to sealed flexible packaging placed around the perimeter of the flexible packaging. It is particularly applicable to sealed packaging with a peelable seal.
