1.1 This standard specifies the nomenclature system for polybutylene-1 (PB-1) thermoplastic material that can be used as a basis in specifications. For simplicity, KS M ISO 8986-1 and KS M ISO 8986-2 use the designation polybutylene and the abbreviation PB. 1.2 Types of polybutylene plastics are determined by determining the appropriate level and basic melt volume flow rate, which is the property for designation. Depending on the classification system based on information on polymer parameters, intended use and/or processing method, main properties, additives, colorants, fillers and reinforcements.1.3 This standard covers all polybutylene homopolymers, including 1-olefin monomers. It applies to copolymers containing less than 50% (m/m) or functional groups and up to 1% (m/m) non-olefin monomers. This standard applies to materials with added colorants, additives, fillers, etc. It is applied to materials for general use in the form of powder, granule, or pellets without any additives. 1.4 It cannot be said that materials with the same name necessarily show the same performance. This standard does not provide engineering data, performance data, or data on processing conditions required to specify materials and processing methods for a specific application.1.5 To specify thermoplastic materials for a specific application or to confirm the reproducibility of processing.
