1.1 This standard specifies the general characteristics of polyethylene (PE) piping systems (drainage pipes and water supply pipes) intended for the transportation of water for general use and for human consumption, including raw water before treatment. It specifies the test parameters for the test methods referenced in the standard. This standard, along with the standards corresponding to other parts of KS M 3408, covers polyethylene pipes, fittings, connectors, and mechanical connectors made of other materials used under the conditions below. Applicable.a) Maximum operating pressure (MOP) 2.5 MPa or lessb) Reference operating temperature 20 °CKS M 3408 covers the range of maximum operating pressure and specifies requirements for color and additives. In this standard, the requirements for color and additives are specified for each pipe structure. Applies to the following types:a) Single-layer pipe - Single color pipe (SP1) - Identification stripe pipe (SP2): Polyethylene pipe with identification stripe (outer diameter dn)b) Multi-layer pipe - Color layer pipe (MP1): Pipe Polyethylene pipe (overall outside diameter dn) with a co-extruded layer of the same MRS grade on the outside (see Annex B) - Covered layer pipe (MP2): A thermoplastic layer that is not bonded to the outside of a polyethylene pipe (outer diameter dn). pipe (see Annex B)
