This standard provides for the safety of: used for household and similar purposes, with a capacity not exceeding 10 kg for dry clothes and with a drum circumferential speed exceeding 50 m/s. - Free-standing electric rotary dryers and - Spin dryers incorporated in washing machines with separate containers for washing and spin-drying, the rated voltage of which is not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances, but which are not normally intended for domestic use. Rotary dehydrators intended for general public use in commercial, light industrial and farm settings, and appliances that may pose a hazard to the general public, such as rotary dehydrators used for commercial purposes in apartment complexes or laundromats, are within the scope of this standard, to the extent possible. This standard addresses the common hazards devices pose around the home that everyone faces. However, this does not generally take into account:
——Persons (including children) who lack the physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, to use the appliance safely without supervision or instruction;
——Children playing with the appliance.
