- This standard specifies the high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method for the determination of free sterols (ergosterol, cholesterol, campesterol, stigmasterol, β-sitosterol) in tobacco and tobacco products. This standard is applicable to the determination of free sterols (ergosterol, cholesterol, campesterol, stigmasterol, β-sitosterol) in tobacco and tobacco products. The detection limits of this method for the determination of free ergosterol, cholesterol, campesterol, stigmasterol, and β-sitosterol in tobacco and tobacco products are: 0.29 mg/kg, 0.08 mg/kg, 0.14 mg/kg, and 0.58 mg respectively. /kg, 0.66 mg/kg; the limits of quantification are: 0.97 mg/kg, 0.28 mg/kg, 0.47 mg/kg, 1.95 mg/kg, 2.21 mg/kg.
