The guideline is intended to enable the designer to solve movement tasks with the help of symmetrical coupling curves of flat four-part articulated gears. For this purpose, various analysis and synthesis methods are presented. Even the restriction to four-link articulated gears requires a systematic approach, as coupling curves of a wide variety of shapes can be generated even with these very simple gears.
