Centrifugal atomizers are suitable for producing monodisperse aerosols of liquid droplets or solid particles. Either single phase liquids, e.g. salt or dye solutions, or colloids can be atomized. The aerosol can be tagged with chemical additives or radioactive tracers. This guideline describes procedures for generating spherical or isometric particles from 0.5 to 100 µm in diameter at number concentrations of 102 to 103 cm-3 and flow rates of about 1 to 3 m3/h.
