Scope

This standard specifies the design requirements, basic functional characteristics, test methods and inspection rules for fixed X- and γ-radiation personal surface pollution monitoring devices (hereinafter referred to as devices). This standard applies to fixed X- and gamma radiation personal surface contamination (whether clothed or unclothed) monitoring devices. This standard only applies to monitoring devices in which the user's human body (including face) and/or his hands and feet are placed in front of the detector without taking action. It does not apply to users who pass quickly or place the detector on the monitoring surface. Mobile monitoring device. Certain parts of this standard may be used for radioactive contamination detection devices that monitor only hands and/or feet.
