Scope
This standard specifies the performance and design requirements of portable high-range X, γ and β radiation dose and dose rate meters for emergency radiation protection, including general characteristics, radiation characteristics, electrical characteristics, mechanical characteristics, safety characteristics, environmental characteristics, inspection Programs and Documentation. This standard applies to portable instruments for measuring high doses or high dose rates produced by X, gamma and beta radiation during emergency nuclear accidents. For X and Y radiation, it refers to the air absorbed dose and dose rate in free air. For β radiation measurement, it refers to the tissue absorbed dose and dose rate at a depth of 7 mg/cm2 of human tissue. If ambient dose equivalent (dose equivalent rate), directional dose equivalent (dose equivalent rate) or air kerma (air kerma rate) is used as the measured quantity, this standard is still applicable, but the agreed true value of radiation The amount changes from the absorbed dose (dose rate) to the corresponding radiation amount. This standard applies to instruments for emergency monitoring outside the site. This instrument can also be used for in-field measurements during emergencies. This standard also provides a basis for selecting instruments for emergency radiation monitoring, which must be able to provide data reliably and quickly to make timely decisions for emergency actions.
