This part specifies the minimum requirements for the performance, design, structure, acceptance testing and quality assurance of fans, fan drive mechanis s, transmis ion mechanis s and related fan accessories as system components in air or gas handling systems related to the safety of nuclear facilities. This section applies to fans as separate components in the system, and includes its drive mechanis , transmis ion mechanis and related fan components. Does not include equipment whose primary purpose is to compress air or gas. This section does not impose upper limits on speed, compression ratio, density, temperature, power, or size. Fans, fan drive mechanis s, transmis ion mechanis s and related fan accessories that are system components in other non-safety-related air or gas treatment systems in nuclear projects can also be implemented with reference to this section.
