Scope
Chapter 1 of GB 1984-2014 applies, with the following modifications: This standard specifies the design, structure, technical requirements and tests of high-voltage AC circuit breakers with predetermined inter-pole asynchronous operation. This standard is applicable to high-voltage AC circuit breakers with predetermined asynchronous operation between poles outside the scope of GB 1984. Otherwise, it is equivalent to the scope of GB 1984. This standard should be used together with GB 1984. Predetermined asynchronous operation between poles can be achieved directly by mechanical means, or by electronic means, both of which are within the scope of this standard. In most cases, circuit breakers with pre-determined phase-to-pole operations are used to implement phase-selective switching. This standard mainly deals with the requirements of such applications as circuit breakers. See CIGRE technical brochures 262 [1], 263 [2], 264 [3] for information on phase selection switching. This standard does not contain requirements for related protection and/or control devices, unless these devices are an integral part of the circuit breaker. According to this standard, there are two basic system configurations for realizing different-phase operation: - the predetermined different-phase operation of the circuit breaker is realized and tested by an independent specific phase selection controller; The phase controller (which can be integrated in the circuit breaker) is realized, and the necessary sensors and auxiliary equipment form part of the test equipment. The basic requirements are the same for each configuration, but the interpretation of the test results depends on whether the phase selection controller is included in the test procedure. Details on this aspect are included in Chapter 6 of this standard. This standard assumes that there is no significant interaction between various parameters affecting the mechanical characteristics of the circuit breaker (such as ambient air temperature, control voltage, etc.). This assumption has not been verified for all combinations, but in practice, operating experience with phase selection shows that this assumption is valid for most commonly used drive technologies. Appendix F provides examples to support this assumption.
