Scope
This standard standardizes the image data file format through common terms, and improves the interoperability between non-destructive examination (NDE) imaging and data acquisition equipment. This standard aligns NDE imaging systems or modalities with the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) standard publication, Digital Image Processing and Communications in Medicine (DICOM). "Digital Image Processing and Communication in Medicine" (DICOM) is an international standard for regulating the acquisition, evaluation, storage and archiving of image data. In addition, this standard also specifies the definition of a set of industrial NDE-specific information objects, whose scope of definition is beyond the scope of the DICOM standard modality. This standard specifies a method for displaying NDE image/signal data on all systems that meet the NDE Domain Digital Image Processing and Communication (DICONDE) format, regardless of the NDE modality in which the data was acquired. This International Standard addresses issues arising during the archiving or analysis of data acquired with different NDE techniques, each of which uses a unique data acquisition system. With the development of data acquisition modality technology, the data acquired in the past still have to maintain coding translatability. This standard provides an image data file format that retains all technical parameters with the image file and is not affected by NDE technical changes. In addition, different types of images (CT, CR, ultrasound, infrared and eddy current) can also be viewed on a workstation through this standard, while retaining the relevant technical parameters of these image files. In addition, this standard helps to realize the exchange of digital information between different NDE image processing equipment. This standard does not apply to the following: testing or certification procedures to assess whether the actual operation application conforms to this standard. Whether the actual operation and application details of a particular device meet the requirements of the device. Whether a system integrated by a group of devices (each device should meet DICONDE or DICOM requirements) can achieve the expected overall performance characteristics and use functions. Although the values in this standard do not include units, they are used for data storage and
