This International Standard specifies methods for removing corrosion products which have formed on metal or alloy specimens during their exposure to a corrosive environment. For the purposes of this International Standard, the term "metals" covers both metals and alloys. The methods specified are designed to remove all corrosion products without significant removal of underlying metal. They allow a precis determination of the loss of mass of the metal which occurs during its exposure to a corrosive environment. These methods can, in certain cases, also be applied to
