Scope
The present Appendix to P.1201.1 presents a short description of which parameters of the model can be used for diagnostic purposes. The document is centred around a table that indicates the parameters and the respective sections these can be found in. Further, it contains information about the level at which the parameter can be retrieved, and the respective model output it is related to. Note that the highlighted parameters are at the highest level, that is, should be used as the starting point for identifying why quality may be low.Note also that the relationship between the parameters and quality are only describing the internal relationship between the model internal parameters and quality, when the output MOS of the models is low. They do not reflect relationship between video encoding parameters in general and quality. For example the encoding complexity is not a quality problem in itself, but can explain why the MOS score drops in certain circumstances.
