This International Standard specifies the size of the samples and the procedures for carrying out the fracture tests in order to obtain information on the type, size and distribution of internal irregularities such as porosities, cracks, bonding defects, insufficient penetrations and solid inclusions on the fracture surface. This International Standard applies to metallic materials of all types of products with joints having a thickness equal to or greater than 2 mm and manufactured by a fusion welding process.
