This International Standard specifies the determination of the activity concentration of lead-210 (210Pb) in samples of all types of water by liquid scintillation counting (LSC). For raw water and drinking water, the sample should be degassed to limit the re-growth of 210Pb from radon 222 (222Rn). Using a standard liquid scintillation counter, this method test can measure the volume activity values of lead 210 over a range ranging from less than 20 mBql-1 to 50 mBql-1. These values can be reached with a counting time of between 180 min and 720 min for a test portion of 0.5
