This standard specifies the technical requirements and test methods for trivalent chromium passivation working fluid and trivalent chromium passivation layer used to protect decorative zinc electroplating. It also stipulates the detection methods of trivalent chromium and hexavalent chromium in trivalent chromium passivation working fluid and the verification method of hexavalent chromium in trivalent chromium passivation layer. This standard is applicable to protective decorative zinc electroplating trivalent chromium passivation working fluid and trivalent chromium passivation layer. This standard does not apply to electroplated zinc. Trivalent chromium passivation is only a surface finish that provides a special color or improves the adhesion strength of paint.
