Scope: This standard specifies the binding methods and binding materials requirements for paper documents in libraries and archives. This standard applies to the binding of books, periodicals, serial publications and archival documents that have special requirements for durability and durability. This standard applies to the following general procedures: the initial hardcover binding of publications or non-published materials, the hardcover rebinding of monographs, periodicals, serials and other paper documents, and the binding of other documents that require this type of protection. This standard does not apply to the binding of documents with high artistic and historical value, nor does it apply to bindings that cannot be performed according to this standard due to the physical characteristics of the documents themselves.
