Scope

This standard specifies methods for measuring the dimensional characteristics, neck strength and surface roughness of dental rotary instruments such as burs, cutting discs, polishing instruments, diamond instruments and abrasive instruments. This standard does not provide methods for testing the properties of materials used in dental rotary instruments. This standard does not apply to root canal instruments (see ISO 3630-1).
