Scope
This standard applies to industrial three-phase direct arc furnaces with a rated capacity equal to or greater than 0.5t. This type of furnace is suitable for both solid charge and liquid charge, and the pressure in the furnace is equal to or close to atmospheric pressure during operation. In addition to the provisions of this standard that are specifically indicated as three-phase electric arc furnaces, other provisions are also applicable to electric arc furnaces with one or more electrodes. These electric furnaces are used to smelt ferrous metals (steel, cast iron) and non-ferrous metals (copper); they can also be used as holding furnaces for overheating and heat preservation of liquid charge before casting. Note: All electrical tests shall exclude the influence of reactive power compensation and (or) voltage stabilizing devices. If it is not possible to shut down these devices during the test, the relevant items of the main circuit in this standard are still applicable, but it should be pointed out that the reactive power compensation device and (or) voltage stabilization device are also put into operation at the same time, and the applicable power supply must be supplemented nets and such devices.
