Scope: This standard specifies the method for calibrating the kinetic energy standard of Auger electron spectroscopy for the analysis of surface elements and chemical states. And also stipulates the calibration schedule, which is used to test the linearity of the kinetic energy scale at a certain energy value in the middle, take a point in the high and low kinetic energy areas to confirm the uncertainty of the scale calibration, correct the small drift of the scale, and specify the kinetic energy at the 95% confidence level. Expanded uncertainty of standard calibration (this uncertainty includes various phenomena observed in interlaboratory studies, but does not cover all possible defects). This standard applies only to instruments equipped with sputter-cleaned ion guns. The instrument is not suitable for the following situations: the error of the kinetic energy scale changes significantly nonlinearly with the energy; when the relative resolution of the spectrometer is lower than 0.2% in the fixed △E/E mode or the fixed △E is 1.5 eV mode, tolerance is required. The difference limit is ±0.05 eV or less. It is also not suitable for instruments whose electron gun cannot be operated in the energy range of 5 keV~10 keV. This standard does not provide full-scale calibration verification, the verification of each point can be set on the energy scale to be verified, and should be performed in accordance with the instrument manufacturer's recommended procedures.
