EN ISO 13934-1:2013 Textiles - Tensile properties of fabrics - Part 1: Determination of maximum force and elongation at maximum force using the strip method
This part of ISO 13934 specifies a method for determining the maximum tensile strength and maximum tensile elongation of textile fabrics using the strip tensile test. NOTE ISO 13934-2 describes the procedure known as grab tensile testing. For informative references, see the literature references. The test applies primarily to woven textiles, including fabrics, which exhibit elastic properties due to the presence of elastomeric fibers or due to mechanical or chemical treatment. It can also be applied to fabrics made using other techniques. It is usually not applicable to geotextiles, nonwovens, coated fabrics, fiberglass fabrics and textile fabrics made of carbon fibers or polyolefin ribbon yarns (see literature references). The procedure determines the determination of the maximum tensile force and maximum tensile force elongation both on measurement samples in a normal climate for testing and in a wet state. Only tensile testing machines with constant testing speed (CRE) can be used for this procedure.
