Scope
This part of ISO 6887 specifies the rules for the preparation of samples and their dilutions for microbiological testing taken at all stages from farm to slaughterhouse. It applies when the samples require preparation that differs from the procedures described in ISO 6887-1. ISO 6887-1 specifies the general rules for the preparation of initial dilutions and decimal dilutions for microbiological studies. This part of ISO 6887 does not apply to the preparation of samples for both payment and detection procedures where details of preparation are specified in the relevant International Standards. This part of ISO 6887 is applicable to various types of samples, such as samples taken in hatcheries, on farms, from vehicles or from animals during transport and from animals or their carcasses in slaughterhouses, to determine the microbiological status of the animals in relation to zoonotic to identify pathogens. This part of ISO 6887 does not apply to samples taken to assess the hygiene of meat. ISO 6887-2 applies to these. This part does not take into account samples taken from the aquatic environment (marine or fresh water) as part of primary production. ISO 6887-3 applies to these.
