- This standard specifies the test methods for determining the force required to open and close doors, lock and unlock hardware with a key or handle. This standard applies to manually operated side-opening and push-pull opening pedestrian doors with locking devices. This standard does not apply to the measurement of the closing force of doors equipped with automatic closing devices, nor does it apply to doors equipped with special hardware accessories such as emergency opening devices.
