This International Standard specifies a test method for assessing the scratch resistance of organic coatings 1 ), particularly of surfaces from the automotive industry (ie for assessing resistance in car washes). In the laboratory, mechanical vehicle cleaning is simulated with rotating brushes using synthetic dirt. The test conditions specified here are largely based on the conditions in a car wash. The procedure can also be used for plastic films and plastic add-on parts if the test parameters are adjusted accordingly.
