This part of ISO 11114 provides guidance for the selection and assessment of the compatibility of non-metallic materials for gas cylinders and valves with the gases in contact with them. It also applies to bundles, bulk bottles and pressure kegs. This part of ISO 11114 may be of use to composite and laminated materials used for gas cylinders. It does not cover the topic completely and is only intended as an aid to assessing the compatibility of gas/material combinations. Only the effect of the gas on changes in the material and mechanical properties (e.g. chemical reaction or changes in the physical state) is taken into account. The basic material properties necessary for design purposes, such as: B. mechanical properties are usually provided by the material supplier and are not considered in this part of ISO 11114. The tolerance data included refers to individual gases, but can also be used to a certain extent for gas mixtures. This part of ISO 11114 does not apply to ceramics, glasses and adhesives. Other aspects, such as B. the quality of the gas supplied are not taken into account. This part of ISO 11114 is not intended for use with cryogenic fluids (see ISO 21010).
