This part of ISO 717 a) specifies single figures for impact sound insulation in buildings and ceilings; b) contains rules for the determination of these singular data from the results of measurements in third-octave bands according to ISO 10140-3 and ISO 140-7 and in octave bands according to the applicable option in ISO 140-7 for measurements in buildings only; c) specifies figures for impact sound reduction through ceiling overlays and floating screeds, which were calculated from the results of measurements in accordance with ISO 10140-3; d) specifies a procedure for determining the assessed impact sound level reduction through ceiling supports on light ceilings. The single figures in this part of ISO 717 are intended for the assessment of impact sound insulation and for simplifying the formulation of acoustic requirements in building regulations. For the purpose of specifying the uncertainty, the determination of an additional single number in 0.1 dB steps is included (excluding the spectrum adjustment values). The required numerical values of these singular data are determined for various needs. Evaluation of the results of measurements over an extended frequency range is described in Appendix A. A procedure for determining single numbers for solid bare ceilings according to their performance in combination with ceiling supports is described in Appendix B. An example of calculating a singular number is given in Appendix C.
