This guideline specifies the calculation of the energy effort for the distribution of heating energy between a central heat generator or chiller and distributed points of use. Water is predominantly used as heat-carrying medium. Other media (such as steam, refrigerants, oil) are not dealt with expressly, but are to be treated by way of analogy. The guideline describes the determination of the energy effort for the transmission of heat between the distribution system and the environment.
