NS 9417 provides uniform terminology and methods in the value chain for salmon and rainbow trout. The standard does not specifically address terminology and methods within the fields of fis health and the environment. The standard covers open cage facilities in the sea and, to a small extent, land-based aquaculture facilities for food fis . For closed facilities in the sea and for land-based facilities, definitions for the nursery fis phase under point 5 and definitions for the food fis phase under point 6 are relevant. Definitions of a technical nature for floating aquaculture facilities are given in NS 9415 and for land-based aquaculture facilities for fis in NS 9416. Definitions for Environmental monitoring of bottom impact from marine aquaculture facilities is given in NS 9410. The standard covers the value chain for salmon (Salmo salar) and rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykis ). Parts of the standard may also be relevant for other species in aquaculture.
