- This standard specifies the instruments and equipment, sample preparation, test procedures, general instructions and data description for the method of determining the base material distribution at a given height on the disc brake friction material backing plate (hereinafter referred to as the backing plate). Measuring base material distribution is very useful for calculating available lining thickness and for friction material quality management.
