Scope
Electrical insulation systems and materials may be subjected to constant stress tests and step stress tests. In the constant stress test, the test data is the breakdown time of many samples; in the step stress test, the test data is the breakdown voltage of the sample. In both cases, different experimental data will be obtained for each sample, and under the given experimental conditions, the obtained experimental data show a certain statistical distribution. This standard analyzes these data through statistical analysis methods of examples. The purpose of this standard is to define the statistical analysis methods used to analyze the breakdown time and breakdown voltage obtained from the electrical testing of solid insulating materials, to characterize the relationship between the system and other insulation systems, and to predict the Probability of breakdown under time and voltage. This method was used to analyze intact data and censored data in which not all specimens broke down. This standard contains the following methods, with examples: determining whether data are suitable for fitting distributions; estimating optimal distribution parameters based on graphical and computer methods; estimating statistical confidence intervals based on computer techniques; and methods for comparing databases and case studies. These analysis methods can be fully represented by Weibull distribution, and some methods also represent other analysis methods such as Gumbel distribution and normal distribution. This standard does not deal with the method of determining the short-time withstand voltage or the working voltage of the insulation system. The mathematical methods proposed in this standard cannot be directly used to evaluate the life of equipment.
