Scope

This part of GB/T 15120 is one of a series of standards describing the characteristics of identification cards defined in Chapter 4 and the use of identification cards in international exchanges. This standard specifies the characteristics of the low-coercivity magnetic stripe (including any protective coating), the encoding technique, the location of the encoding track and the character set on identification cards. The minimum requirements are specified based on both human and machine factors. Coercivity affects the specification of many quantities in this standard, but is not specified in itself. Exposing the card to a magnetic field is likely to destroy the recorded data. This section applies to the guidelines that should be followed to provide cards. The number of uses is not taken into account in these standards, if required, based on experience with previous card tests. If the card does not meet the specified guidelines, it should be negotiated among the parties involved. ISO/IEC 10373-2 specifies test procedures for checking that a card complies with the parameters specified in this part of ISO 2000.
