Scope

This standard is applicable to provide corrosion protection to iron and steel materials, and zinc, aluminum and their alloy coatings are applied on the surface by thermal spraying. This standard deals with the performance characterization and related test methods of thermal sprayed zinc, aluminum and their alloy coatings for general corrosion protection purposes. This standard first gives the relevant definitions, classifications and marking codes associated with thickness; then involves surface pretreatment, coating application and characteristics such as thickness, appearance and adhesion; finally gives the test methods for testing these characteristics. The terms of this standard are also valid for other metal coatings if agreed upon by both the supplier and the purchaser.
